I'm not actually sure what happened here. After ringing up everything, the cashier said, "Ummmm, there's a problem here. It says we owe you $0.79." After a too-long conversation (me saying, "Can I just buy a pack of gum?" and the manager saying, "We can't just give you $0.79" and me saying, "I know - can I just buy a pack of gum?" and the cashier saying, "Why don't you just buy a pack of gum?"................... anyway.
